June-Besachio, Liz -- School psychologist

Dear EBS Families,

I am the School Psychologist at EBS. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and loved ones, traveling, hiking, camping, exercising, teaching our dog and cat new tricks, teaching our dog to talk using an AAC device, teaching Pilates, tending to my plants, learning new things, and reading.

As a School Psychologist is my goal to help students, educators, and parents have a positive educational experience. This may be through determining how a child learns best, aiding in social-emotional development, providing behavioral support, counseling students, consulting with educators and parents, and much more. It is my belief that there is no such thing as a problem child, only children struggling with problems. Through teamwork and collaboration with students, parents and educators, we can help children overcome these challenges.

I’ve been passionate about supporting those that are marginalized since I was a teenager, working with a non-profit adult literacy organization. I studied Psychology and Sociology at Ithaca College, while being a coxswain on our D3 rowing team. My work soon after broadened toward individuals with disabilities, supporting preschool students with disabilities and developmental delays throughout my college years in New York. Following college I deferred grad school to serve with AmeriCorps, specifically with City Year San Jose, where I provided literacy tutoring to elementary school students during the day and ran an after-school program providing my students with homework support, and enrichment classes. I loved it so much that I stayed a second year, where I supported corps members in literacy tutoring and expanded our program to include math tutoring as well. Following my second year of service, I went on to graduate school at San Diego State University where I received my Masters in Education with an emphasis in Counseling as well as my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology. During this time I additionally provided Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy in the homes and schools of children with autism and over developmental disabilities. I completed additional coursework focused on ABA and am additionally a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I look forward to helping you and yours through their journey at EBS!

Sincerely,

Liz June-Besachio, Ed.S., BCBA
