Homework

School and district policies require homework and outside reading on a regular basis.

Each teacher develops a homework policy and communicates it to parents in writing and at Back-to-School Night. If you have a concern about the quantity or quality of your child's homework, please contact the teacher.

Though parents are encouraged to assist and supervise children's home learning, they should not do it for them. Homework is designed to help students extend or reinforce concepts presented in the classroom as well as develop organizational and time management skills.

Assignments will be given in all subject areas, and may integrate subject areas or take the form of a project.

In addition, students should read and report on a minimum of one book per month. Parents are asked to encourage students to read at home nightly for at least 20 minutes.
